Sol Market x noissue

We chat with Sol Market’s Alex and Marissa about their community markets, commitment to sustainability, and use of noissue packaging.

There’s something about community markets that just feels so unique—giddy at the thought that there are a lot of things to discover, a lot of people to meet, and a lot of possibilities at hand—almost like treasure hunting. In such places, you never know, that’s where you’ll find your next favorite candle scent, your new go-to jewelry pieces, an aspiring designer that just gets your style, and a lot more. If these have got you pretty excited, you will surely love Sol Market!

Sol Market is a community market co-founded by best friends Alex and Marissa. So far, Sol Market has collaborated with many small businesses, such as coffee shops, breweries, and gift shops around Costa Mesa and Long Beach in California, and has housed countless independent sellers that offer a variety of one-of-a-kind items such as clothing, accessories, and many more in their pop-ups and flea markets.

Another thing that is natural to community markets such as Sol Market is their dedication to supporting local as well as their commitment to sustainability. That especially reflects on the brands that they curate for each market in that their products are proudly handcrafted, secondhand, or even sustainably made. Same with the packaging that Sol Market partnered with noissue for. To learn about this and more, read on!

Tell us a bit about your brand!

Sol Market is a curated, community market that focuses on sustainability and supporting small, local businesses. Co-founded by best friends Alex and Marissa, our mission is to build community and make it easy to shop with purpose.

Alex and Marissa, the co-founders of Sol Market

So many people want to find products that are intentionally and locally made but don’t know where or how to find them. We wanted to create a space where people can find handpicked products that are secondhand, vintage, non toxic, handmade, etc. all while connecting with the individuals who make or source them. We wanted to incorporate all of the things we love about flea markets but pop up with different businesses that we love and support.

Tell us about the design for your packaging and how you’re using them?

For our totes, we created two different designs - one with just our logo in our signature orange color and another one with a blue logo along with qualities that make our market stand out.

For example, we used words like curated, sustainable, intentional, local, etc. We wanted to keep our design simple but recognizable to Sol so that when we wear the totes or gift them, it helps spread awareness about our company!

What made noissue a good fit for your packaging?

Since our goal is to make a memorable experience, we wanted to get some custom tote bags made so that we could gift them to our vendors and use them in our in-person giveaways. We loved that noissue had sustainably made, 100% cotton totes! We wanted something that was practical and aligned with our business so the totes have been perfect and allow people to use them while shopping at our market!
